Living healthy is about spirit, mind and body at every age and stage. Ys offer classes and programs for those dealing with chronic disease, in addition to health assessments and wellness coaching.

F.I.R.S.T 

(Fighting Insulin Resistance with Strength Training)  for  Diabetic and Pre-Diabetic conditions.  

This 12 week exercise program is guided by Health and Wellness Director Laura Clary and Dr. Shang, author & developer of the program. Certified instructors will lead participants thru exercises both body weight and machine based. Participants will need to complete pre and post program baseline assessments involving standard strength and cardiovascular endurance tests, along with pre and post A1c testing.  To encourage the best success for you, we ask that participants do not miss more than 3 classes.  Upon successful completion of the 12 week program, participants that are members of the Y will receive 6 one on one 30 minute training sessions with a personal trainer to assist you in your continued health journey.

Fee: Y-Members $75  Non Y members $150.00

Enhance Fitness Program

Enhance Fitness (EF) is an award-winning group exercise program for older adults that’s fun and interactive.
>EF helps you stay fit and learn how to exercise safely.
>You’ll do a series of stretches, low impact aerobics, and strength training.
>All activities are tailored to your skills and health needs.
>Classes are led by specially trained fitness instructors

Chronic Disease Self Management

Gain confidence in your ability to manage chronic diseases through this Free Chronic Disease Self-Management Program (CDSMP), developed by Stanford University. This 6-week  instructor-led small group workshop is designed to provide you with the tools you need to improve your health and quality of life. CDSMP is ideal for adults with a variety of chronic conditions,including arthritis, diabetes, hypertension, and other chronic conditions that can make life difficult.
